10 Must Have Clinique Products In 2018

We all like to pamper our skin and a healthy skin surely looks flawless and glows even without makeup. Clinique is one of the famous company which has established their expertise in makeup and skincare with years of remarkable results. Clinique’s dermatologists are continuing their work of inventing and researching products in beautifying our skin and looks. Along with their three steps skincare range, other products like lipsticks, foundation, chubby sticks, makeup remover and perfumes are also getting a fair share of popularity. Clinique’s men products are also quite effective, my husband is a regular user of Clinique sunscreens. Here I have ranked some of my favorite Clinique products.

10. Travel size trio– This set is great for travel, I don’t need to pack a lot for the short trips and I can easily carry it in my weekender bags.Cleansing, toning and moisturizing, skin care will not be neglected with this set.

9. Clinique clarifying lotion– I have a dry-combination skin type, so, harsh toner makes my skin drier. My skin just loves this toner, great for all seasons.  I like to apply it in the night after cleansing my face. Sometimes I use it in the morning and before applying makeup. It helps to open up the pores and give me a fresh feel.

8. Correcting Foundation with SPF– This is a great foundation for the summer. This is a light to medium coverage foundation. Not the best product for concealing, it’s on the lighter side.Especially in the summer, before going to the beach I used it, Just to get a little color on my face.It blends really well and gives a smooth skin finish.

7. Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturisers– This is a great product for hydration supplement to the skin. This is a gel based product and gives a lot of moisture. This is one of my favorite summer moisturizers.

6.Clinique Matte Pressed Powder-This helps me to get that oil-free yet flawless look in the summer. It gives a natural finish to my skin.

5. Clinique lash Power Mascara-This gives my lashes a natural yet definite finish.I like to use the Black Onyx shade. It’s not a bold one though but definitely, brighten my eyes.

4. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion– This is my all time favorite moisturizer.I use it every day after cleansing and every night with my night serum. Currently, I am on my fifth bottle. It very delicately soothes my sensitive skin.

3. Clinique Take The Day Off,Makeup Remover-I am really picky one when to choose a makeup remover. There are so many makeups removing products are available in the market, it’s sometimes getting hard to choose which one will be the best for me. I don’t like the greasiness some of the makeup removers has, and some of them even dry out my skin. Then I came across with this Clinique product, it’s a bit pricey one for a makeup remover, but surely it does the job done and left no residue afterward.A big thumbs up for this one.

2.Clinique Chubby StickThis is an amazing product from Clinique, you can use it as a lip balm or as a lip tint which will moisturize your pout also. Great for daytime and office hours.

1.Clinique Happy Perfume-My recent top products from Clinique, the Happy perfume. This fragrance is a must-have for spring-summer time.It gives me a fresh feel all day along. I got a lot of compliments wearing this one.

Bengali New Year

I am a proud Bengali, every year on 15th April we celebrate our New Year. Bengalis love their language, we love our heritage, we love our poems and songs, we love our politics, we love our culture, but mostly we love our food.Yes, Bengalis are one of the greatest foodies. We think that our Mutton Biriyani is the best in the lot, we think that we are the only one who can cook prawns and other fishes to its perfection. We are by born the rice lover, rice without a day means something is missing. Like food and politics, we love Rabindranath Tagore, the famous poet, lyricist, artist, writer, and Nobel Prize winner. Our celebrations are incomplete without Tagore.Bengali New Year is a very emotional celebration for me, it’s been almost 10 years that I am away from my city. But I didn’t stop celebrating, now I celebrate with my kids and husband. It has been changed though, but some traditions remain the same.We still call our parents and elders to get blessings and wishing our friends and family for a great year ahead. We still like to wear new dresses on this day, clean our houses, cook our authentic Bengali dishes and we still remember Tagore. No matter where we are or where we will be, the tradition will be continued, from my parents to me and then to my kids.

Take a glance at my collage and you will understand how we celebrate the Bengali New Year. We start our traditional feast with fried flatbread and potato curry, then on the entree, we have vegetable, lentil soup, Bengali yellow sweet fried rice, fish curry, mutton/chicken curry and we finish it with our very famous sweet yogurt and sweets. This year also I am planning to do the same.Wishing you A Happy Bengali New Year.

3 DAYS QUOTE CHALLENGE- DAY 3

This is my first time in the quote challenge. I am really excited to write my favorite quotes.

“Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out?”― Ian Wallace.

Quote by the great author Ian Wallace, writer of many kids books, including Hensel and Gretel.

This quote is conveying a very important message that we often forget, love yourself. We often lost our individuality in order to follow others footsteps. Everybody is different, everybody has their uniqueness, we should respect individuality, diversity, respect yourself, you are different, don’t be a follower, you can achieve much more if you believe in yourself. When, I see others are doing the same thing, following the same line of study or doing the same kind of work, I got confused, why should I follow others when my dreams are so different when my interests are different from others. Why should I listen to others when I want to follow my heart, I want to be me.

Thank youRudra Makwana, Tinte for giving me this opportunity.

Being entirely honest with oneself is a good exercise.”-Sigmund Freud, letter to Wilhelm Fliess, Oct. 15, 1897

The famous Psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud’s work and writings contributed to our understanding of personality, clinical psychology, human development and abnormal psychology.

Freud puts into words something that all of us should slowly start practicing. Self-analyzation is one of the greatest ways to become a strong-willed person. If I am honest with myself, whether that means figuring out my own behavior, needs, goals, desires, mistakes and accepting them, then I will overcome a lot of dilemmas of my life. I will be more confident, focused and balanced. No matter what will be the crisis, if I have faith in me, if I know my weakness and strength, I can fight any hurdle of my life. When in doubt, I often listen to myself, understanding myself helps me to get calm and composed.

3 DAYS QUOTE CHALLENGE- DAY 1

This is my first time in the quote challenge. I am really excited to write my favorite quotes.

Paulo Coelho is one of my favorite authors. The book Alchemist is one of his greatest creation. It tells about the meaning of life. The book is filled with inspirational quotes, among them, my favorite quote is this- “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

I truly believed in those lines. It explains that if you want something so badly, that the Universe itself helps you in every possible way to get that. It says about your desperation of wanting something will make your destiny, believe yourself and the world will follow you. Your inner strength, your optimism will make it happen. So, dream, dream big and want them, make plans, make promises that you will fulfill your dream and you will own them one day. Never lose hope, and always remember, the Universe is on your side.

Thank youRudra Makwana, Tinte for giving me this opportunity.

Andaman Islands- Hidden Gems of India

Surrounded by the Indian Ocean and dense mangrove forests, far from the hustle and bustle of the cities, about 850 miles east of the Indian subcontinent, you will find Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Along with the crystal clear water, white sandy beaches and green serene view, Andaman is an ideal location for tourists who want a tranquil and reviving vacay. From hills, rivers to valleys, from forest to blue coastlines, beautiful breathtaking views are to be found everywhere.

Andaman has more than 300 small islands, only some of them are inhabited. The three major islands are North Andaman, Middle Andaman, and South Andaman—closely positioned and collectively known as the Great Andaman. Of the two ways to reach there, by air and by ships, we opted for air from Kolkata to Port Blair, the capital town of Andamans. After staying a few days in Port Blair we took a ferry ride to the famous Havelock Island. Havelock island has one of India’s prettiest beach stretches. Our beachfront resort had a private beach access. The moment I stepped on the beach, I felt smooth white sands under my feet.

I was in awe, I was surrounded by the lush tropical trees and in front of me was the endless blue horizon. Havelock island is one of the popular tourists’ destinations, famous for pristine coastlines and luxurious hotels and restaurants.                                          Next, we visited the Long Island, famous for snorkeling and scuba diving. The Andaman Islands are a world-class destination for scuba diving, and the area around Long Island has some of the best dive sites in the Andamans. Since I don’t know swimming, I was very scared to go. Then I found an efficient snorkel guide, who was very helpful, after a couple of shaky trials, and then I was able to see Andaman’s marine life, so many colors, full of corals, colorful small fishes in batches, it was unbelievable, almost dreamlike, I was floating away with the fishes in the colorful water kingdom.

The next day, we visited Little Andaman, the best surfing destination in India. We missed their famous elephant safari. Andaman is full of surprises, away from the mainland, where you can find isolated beaches and if your adventure mind wants something exciting, then you can choose any kind of activity like water sports, fishing, beachside camping, trekking, sea walking, mangrove creek safari, bird watching and many other fun activities. Besides the snorkeling, another interesting discovery for me was to meet with Jarawa, one of the primeval tribes, they are quite popular among the tourists. Like most tribal peoples, Jarawa also live self-sufficiently on their ancestral Jarwas are believed to have lived in Andamans islands for up to 55.000 years. We had to travel quite a distance just to take a glance of them.

Our next destination was Baratang Islands, where we visited the limestone caves and the mud volcano.

In the last couple of days of our trip, we stayed again in Port Blair. Port Blair is the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, famous for many historical sights. The Cellular Jail is the main historic attractions in Port Blair. It is a National Memorial of India. We attended their popular light and sound show in the Central Jail. The show narrates the saga of the Indian freedom struggle.

It was a great trip, away from cities, relaxing on the white sand beach, watching the magnificent sunsets, snorkeling, the red snapper and crab feast, adventurous trekking, the mad ferry ride on the Indian Ocean, Cellular Jail, wow, we had spent almost 2 weeks there, but it seems not enough, we have to go there again, there is much more to discover, much to see, much to experience, again to the Andamans.

My favourite Summer Fragrances under $30

I love perfumes, especially the floral undertones, not very strong though. For everyday use, I like softer but not very pricey ones. Here are some of my summer favourites and the best thing is all of them are under $30.

VERA WANG PERFUME EMBRACE– A sweet floral perfume, great for night time.

DAVIDOFF COOL WATER SUMMER SEAS– A perfect light clean fresh perfume for those summers afternoons.

TOMMY GIRL SUMMER–  A softer scent, if you don’t like the strong smell of the original Tommy Girl, then it will be perfect for you.

VICTORIA SECRET LOVE IS HEAVENLY BODY MIST– I like the body mist, especially after the bath, it is a beautiful blend of florals.

PHILOSOPHY PURE GRACE ENDLESS SUMMER BODY WASH- great for summer, if you like Gardenia, then it’s a must-have.

VICTORIA SECRET ROLLERBALL SETS– A collection of top 3 VS perfumes. Great for gifting.

Our Favorite books

Books are one of the weaknesses we have in my family, everytime we enter any bookstore, we become so tempted and every time we have to buy books for each one of us. We love to read. Me, husband and my daughter, we read books every day, during breakfast, lunch or dinner, before going to bed, during vacation, during the long journey and even in the bathrooms. We have our own collection of books. Often we rent books from the library, read online books and buy from here and there. Here, I tried to create 3 different collage with some of our all-time favorite books.

My daughter’s favorite books:

She likes to read mystery stories. She likes Junie B. Jones and Amelia Bedelia series. Her all-time favorite author is Dr. Seuss. She already collected all Dr. Seuss books. Recently, she develops interests in comics like Dogman and Tintin.

My favorite books:

My list of favorite books is little spread out. I like to read my Bengali books, inspirational books like The Alchemist, The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. Poems like Gitanjali by Tagore, romantic novels by Daniele Steel. And I love classic British mystery series like Sherlock, Poirot and Miss Mapel. among the Indian authors, I like to read my favorite author (since childhood) Satyajit Ray’s books, Amish, famous Bengali authors like Sunil and so on. Really, I have a wide variety of choices, if I have the time I can be hooked on any kind of books and continue to read until I finished the book. I remember before the exams also, I read detective novels for the whole night. I can be that much crazy for books.

My husband’s favorite books:

His choices of books are the true reflection of his persona. He likes photography books, thrillers, short stories, and of course Tintin.

Share your favorite books and tell me how these books inspired you.

The Shape Of Water, movie review

Took a while to get to this magical piece, mainly I came to know about ‘The Shape Of Water’ in the Oscar nominations announcement. Have to accept that I was a little skeptical about this movie, a fish man story in 2018, come on! But trust me, it’s worth watching.

Guillermo del Tore’s romantic fantasy movie The Shape Of Water, Oscar winner 2018 for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Music Score and for Best Production Design. It started like a fairy tale, almost ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Well almost, but this movie has so many layers than just a fairy tale. This movie is about two lonely souls finding each other, in spite of their incompleteness, they find each other’s company. If I describe the movie plot in a fairy tale style, then it goes like this- a mute princess fall in love with an amazonian sea creature, whereas, the greedy evil guy wants to use the magical creature for his own benefit, knowing the evil guy’s plan, the princess decided to release the sea creature into the water, but got hurt instead and then the magical creature took the princess away, into the water, and healed the princess with his magic touch, at last, out of the reach of the evil guy, they are free, in love, now they are happy.

The background took us back to the US, early 1960 when the gripping cold war is at its height. There, in a secret government laboratory, Elisa(Sally Hawkins)works as a janitor. Elisa is mute, back in her childhood she was discovered beside the riverbank as an orphan with a wounded neck. She uses sign language to communicate. She is lonely, almost invisible to other except only Zelda(Octavia Spencer), her co-worker, and Giles(Richard Jenkins), her next-door neighbor knows her better. Colonel Richard Strickland(Michael Shannon) brings an amphibian man in the facility. They captured him from South America’s river. They want to exploit the creature’s power and use it to American advantage in the Space Race. The creature is held captive and continuously torture by The Colonel. Elisa see the sea creature, see his wounds, his helplessness. Every day she gives him food, tries to teach him sign languages. They both have started to connect with each other, both have incompleteness, both are alone. Elisa can empathize with this Amphibian man, started to care for him, suddenly she is not lonely anymore, she is not invisible. The creature does not care her muteness, he can see her,  understands her. In a very little time, they have developed a deep bonding. But like every fairy tale, the evil guy has some different intention, he wants to kill the creature for experimental purpose. When Elisa comes to know about the plan, she has gone desperate, quite gentle Elisa becomes fierce, she doesn’t care anything else, just to save the creature. At last, she rescues her love and brings him home. The scientist Dr.Hoffstelter, Zelda, and Giles help her in rescuing. Elisa and her soulmate enjoy the time they spent in that small apartment room, forgetting about the world around them, they were in love.  A love story which is not perfect but feels so true. Elisa has to free her love into the water or he might die. Sally Hawkins is incredible in expressing sorrow through her eyes.In the end, she succeeds but gets injured. Then the sea creature carries her into the water where Elisa gets a new life, a new start with her Fish man. A dreamy romantic fantasy – totally fictional, but beautiful and soulful! It has a sweet after effect. Superb casting, beautiful melodious background score, classic Hollywood cinemaphotography, and romantic songs selection. It’s a must watch.
