Winter Hair Care

Like our skin, our hair also needs extra care in this winter season. Dryness, dullness, dandruff, frizziness, hair thinning, split ends and other many more hair problems can create unacceptable bad hair days. So, the time is here to winterize our hair routine. I like to keep my hair care simple yet effective.

img_9840

As a mom of two, hovering among many daily activities, I really struggle to follow a perfect winter hair care. Still, I try to protect my hair from the dryness. I like to oil my hair twice a week, mostly with organic coconut oil or almond oil and I like to use very little oil just enough to moisture my scalp and hair. Because the more oil I use, the more shampoo I would be needed to wash away the oil. To prevent hair falling and hair thinning I use a mixture of oils (Castor oil, Coconut oil, and Almond Oil) and use it at least once a week. Tea tree oil and Aloe vera gel are also beneficial for hair fall.

img_9837

And in the winter, it is best to use as little chemical as possible. Then, after the shampoo, I like to use a leave-in conditioner or Moroccan oil. Also, because of using hair color, I always use Sulphate and Paraben free shampoo.

img_9836-1

Shea butter or coconut based shampoo and oil-based conditioners are always good for dryness.

img_9833-1

img_9835

img_9834

Thick hair needs deep conditioning, once a week, hair mask is just fine and also I keep the conditioner away from my roots, again the less is good. For thin hair, the regular hair conditioner is enough, or the heavy conditioner can make the thin hair flat.

img_9838

I also reduce my blow dry time and rely upon the good old towel drying technique. I always use heat protectant product before using any hot tools for hair, like the dryer, straightener or curling wand. And after the hair styling, I use this amazing hair styling product which helps me with the frizziness.

img_9832

And for dandruff, I like to use a homemade hair pack, made with plain yogurt, lime juice, and honey.

Go natural and keep it moisturized- that’s my basic winter hair care mantra.

CHEERS TO A GOOD START

Happy New Year to everyone. For quite some days I was wondering about what would be my resolutions in 2019. I am done with the dieting plans, done with exercising promises, done with meet up the deadlines, unable to save and also fails to keep everybody happy all the time. So, basically, I am done with all those disciplinary actions that I promised to myself on earlier years, and still not be able to keep up with them. I am sure many unfortunate souls have the same situation. So, I was thinking why should I follow all these disciplines which are not meant to be syncing with me and then regretting the rest of the year because I couldn’t follow it. Have I become the world’s most disorganized person? If I am not be able to take care of my routine how would I plan to take care of my family and my life? I felt guilty, frustrated even. Then, after cornering myself with these upsetting thoughts, I started to search for the best resolution that I can actually follow in 2019. And I have found it. My resolution is –A stress-free year.

To live a stressfree, ease out, a productive and relaxing lifestyle I want to concentrate on 3 Golden Rules- ACCEPTANCE, ENJOYMENT, INNOVATIONS.

When things are not according to our way, we can become frustrated, irritated and stressed out, then the need for ACCEPTANCE comes, it is a smarter way to deal the situation rather being defensive. A good example is, I often get stressed out on my time management skills. When I realized that I could not finish all of my dues in a day or a week, I become very frustrated, but being so much worried on not be able to complete tasks, if I can focus on the tasks that are already completed and accept that, these are all I can do in a day, and those things I can’t do, I can do it later or manage them in time accordingly, will definitely ease out my stress. I think this is the hardest step, to accept the situation and let go all the rules.

The next step is a little easier, ENJOYMENT– when I already accepted the crisis, then half of my stress is already gone. And to make it more sync with me, if I start to enjoy the situation, that will be a great help. Often, I get stressed out about my messy rooms. My toddler often plays with my kitchen stuff and loves to create a big pile of toy mess around the house. So, earlier I keep cleaning them and he used to mess around again, again I cleaned them, so it was going on a loop, and become so intolerable, but now, I started to learn that instead of getting the rooms clean again and again, if I start playing with him with those stuff and maybe sometimes, even pretend to play with him, then, slowly showing him how to keep the toys in the toy storages, then he also gets interested, he wants to be involved, in that way we both can spend some fun time together.

Now comes the third step, to make it more like me, to make the situation fully in harmonious with me, to make my enthusiasm more sustainable, I need to put my best efforts, my INNOVATIONS, my creativity. Like, to help with my elder one with her homework, I often opt for fun and different ways, or just give little twists in my daily cooking, or give my rooms a new look with decorative stuffs, do more DIYs, all these can make the everyday boring, not so challenging tasks, more accepting, more enjoyable.

And after all these, even so, the situation is giving me intense stress, then it is time to give up, then I need to get away or change the situation. Not to feel guilty or regret, because I would know I already have given my best efforts.

To sum it up, this year I want to focus on more positive, productive, and enjoyable lifestyle.

I will keep an active life and put enough efforts to make my days fun and productive.

I will keep entertained myself with good reads and creativities that I want to do.

Every day I will do my breathing exercise and write my thoughts on my journal.

I will try to be more empathetic and try to understand my family’s needs.

I will find my ME TIME and do those pieces of stuff that I wanted to do for very long.

I will adjust my expenses according to my savings. and I will cherish all those things that I already have.

I will avoid all those people, who give me a negative vibe and keep my friends close.

I will do more traveling and I will keep remembering myself about all the good memories that I have and be grateful.

Let’s make this New Year a time to celebrate life, the time to achieve new goals, time to be the best of you.

Christmas Art For Kids

“Do you want to make a snowman?” Like Elsa and Anna, we all like to create fun stuff. Especially around this time of the year, kids can create so many interesting and creative arts. Here, in my home also, my kids love to engage with different types of holiday-themed arts and crafts. Well, every year gingerbread house would be the main attraction, they start to decorate it, but then within a few minutes, they lose their patience. So, this year instead of a gingerbread house, I bought ready to decorate gingerbread cookies and besides that’s my kids created some easy to do Christmas arts, inspired from Pinterest. Here are some easy holiday fun activities that can be done at home.

Print the holiday-themed art from online and then kids can paint them. Or you can draw the kids’ hand’s outline and cut the art paper and make paper reindeer’s horns. Next is to make a snowman with paper dollies. With some cotton balls, glue, and markers kids can make holiday penguin.

Myrtle Beach, Travel Blog

Beautiful beaches, award-winning restaurants, and first-rate entertainment can all be found in Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach is a visitor’s dream, offering everything from relaxing beaches, shopping, exhilarating thrill rides, exciting attractions, quality dining options, and sizzling nightlife.

Myrtle Beach, a city and vacation resort on the East Coast of the United States in South Carolina’s Atlantic coast. It is situated on the center of a large and continuous 60-mile stretch of beach known as “The Grand Strand” in northeastern South Carolina. Ranked as the second fastest-growing metropolitan area in the country (per 2018 census estimates), Myrtle Beach is one of the major centers of tourism in South Carolina and the United States because of the city’s warm subtropical climate and extensive beaches, attracting an estimated 14 million visitors each year.

Once you are there, Myrtle Beach is your playground. The fun usually starts at the beach, but it doesn’t have to stay there. Race down a waterslide at one of the local waterparks, or look at dolphins while zipping around the surf on a jet ski or banana boat ride. If you are still seeking excitement, then get on the Grand Strand’s 200-foot Skywheel, or hop on one of the area’s rollercoasters for some spins, dips, and turns.

If you are looking for a way to have fun without the sun, the Myrtle Beach area offers a number of fun-filled indoor activities. Kids and adults alike can bounce the day away at Rockin’ Jump or take a ride on the hurricane simulator at Wonder Works. To experience the amazing sea life, visit Ripley’s Aquarium, where stingrays and sharks are one of the main attractions for visitors. All these and much more entertainment options are available at Broadway at the Beach, from family entertainment to shopping, great restaurants, and exciting nightlife, everything you will find at there.

Surfside Beach

Surfside Beach is known throughout the Grand Strand as a “Family Beach”. The perfect family getaway starts in Surfside Beach, where generations of families have been vacationing in a variety of beach homes and condos overlooking serene, beautiful beaches.

Located directly south of Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach is a small beach community revered for the family-friendly environment. The inlet meets the ocean here, so the area is a hot spot for water sports, fishing, and crabbing. The heart of Garden City Beach is the Pier, a paradise for those looking to fish during the day and like to hear live music at night. The sea here is excellent for surfers too. And nearby arcades are favorite stops for those ready to have fun after a day in the sun.

Myrtle Beach is one of our family’s favorite vacation spot and we will keep continuing to visit there. There is something for everybody; like I said, you can start the day at the beach but I bet you will explore a lot more. Whether visit with a large group or plan for a small weekend break, Myrtle Beach will not disappoint you.

Weekend Dinner Simplified- Chicken Meatballs with Rice Pilaf

Weekends are very special to my family, it starts with lots of planning for outing, gathering, shopping, and cooking, but, in reality, all we want is to take some rest and relax our mind and body over the weekends.  Now, who wants to cook in these summer weekends for the whole day and don’t want to have fun outside? I love to cook and I love to try different dishes, and simple dishes are always time-saving and easier to cook, so, many times I opt for a one-pot meal. My family loves to eat chicken meatballs, so, I try it to make it often, sometimes as an appetizer, sometimes for the office and school lunch, and this time I tried to mix the chicken balls with vegetables and rice, and make it a nice one-pot meal. This is also great with leftover rice and it is more nutrient than the just regular chicken dish. And it’s definitely an easy and quick recipe so that I don’t miss my summer outings.

It’s a very simple recipe, all you need are ground chicken, any kind of rice(I used jasmine rice), some of your favorites veggies, some spices and it’s done. In the first step I made the chicken balls, then I cut the vegetables and saute them, in the last step I added the uncooked rice and mix all the things and then cook it in the same pot.

So, first I made the chicken balls. Here I take half a pound ground chicken, then I add salt, sugar, egg, paprika, the five spices powder, black pepper for the flavor and then little bit cornflour and breadcrumbs to bind the balls nicely.

Next is to shape the balls. There is no need to be a perfect size and shape for each of them, as you can see mine are not.

And then shallow fry them until they are nicely golden brown and keep it aside. You can make the chicken balls earlier, and store them in the refrigerator, use it when you are ready to make the dinner. I fried the chicken balls on a Thursday evening and make the rice pilaf on Saturday.

Then in another pot, saute the vegetables. Here, I have green peas, sweet corns, and sliced carrots, these are my kid’s favorites, sometimes I also use different colours of peppers.

Then I add 1tbsp ginger-garlic paste and 2 tbsp tomato ketchup, mix it well.

Next step is to add the water. The quantity of water depends on the quantity of rice, usually, I measure a 1:2 rice and water ratio. When the water starts to boil, I add the washed and pre-soaked rice.

Cover the pot after adding the rice and check every 5 minutes until the rice is properly cooked. And in the last step, I mix the fried chicken balls, little butter and cover the pot. And then wait for 10 minutes before serving, this is important as this resting time will enhance the flavor of the dish and help to incorporate all the different ingredients altogether.

VOILA! CHICKEN BALLS WITH RICE PILAF is ready to serve.

Let’s Talk Eyeliners

Eyes are always the focal point in our makeup, and the most used makeup product is the eyeliner. Black eyeliner is the safest choice for the office, college, party, basically for everywhere. And nowadays other colors are also getting attention. From a playful look to a bold look, the traditional look or just for an everyday outing, eyeliner is a must for every girl’s vanity. As a makeup lover, I like to purchase new products, but I am little conservative while buying an eyeliner. Why? two main reasons, I like to purchase the same eyeliner every time which I know is most suited for me, I know which shade of black will go perfectly with my skin tone, and without any fails, my eye makeup will be perfect. The second reason is, eye sensitivity. I am little skeptical to use a new formula on my eyes. The eyeliners and eye pencils which are tried and tested for a long time are always the right choices for my eyes. Here are some of my prolong used and most trustworthy liquid eyeliners.

I tried to demonstrate the pigmentation and thickness of these eyeliners. There are some black eyeliners and some color eye pencils.

So, here on the top, I have a gold-tone Hyperglossy liquid eyeliner from Maybelline New York, this is great for the festival time or for parties. Next is my most favorite Stay All Day liquid eyeliner from Stila in the shade of Intense Black, it’s a microtip liner, easy to use, just love it. Next is the popular Kat Von D black eyeliner in the shade Trooper, again deep black, excellent for a dramatic look. Then I have two black eye pencils, Infallible long were eye pencil from Loreal in the shade of Black Noir and another favorite from Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil in the shade Perversion. I love this shade, this is my fourth one, I use it every day.

Here I have my color eye pencils. The first eye pencil is waterproof kajal from Rimmel, which is a grayish glittery black pencil, I used it on the evening parties, it’s not very glittery though but enough to create a smoky look. The next brown eyeliner is from Kat Von D, Hemingway, nice color for a subtle makeup. As you can see I am a big fan of Urban Decay eye pencils, I got the four shades of them, each of them are quite unique but trust me, they are amazing. Sometimes I use them as the base, or smudge them over my lids and create a slightly tinted shadow, and sometimes I use it as the bottom eyeliners. I consider makeup as another form of art, be creative and be playful, it is fun. Love yourself and always stay happy.

Waterfalls -Nature’s Wonder

Water, I want to be like water: strong enough to hold up a ship, but able to slip through your fingers.

                                                                             MICHELLE WILLIAMS

I consider waterfall is the nature’s finest art, it is serene, romantic and full of life. From far, it can be a beautiful canvas to capture a perfect scenery, but once you go near to her you will hear her roar, you will feel her force, the spontaneity. To me, waterfalls are the symbols of the celebration of life.

Here are some of our family favorites, captured by us.

Summer Activities For Kids Under $10

Summer is here and so does the long summer vacation, no school, and lots of fun for my kiddos. I and my daughter have planned to do so many things for this vacation, though I doubt about the executions of those plans. Still, its fun to plan, especially if you have active kids like mine. As the summer vacation starts, the daily routine gets messed up pretty quickly, but that’s okay with me. As long as they are busy with some kind of activities and not engaging their time only on the internet and not watching Netflix for the whole day, I am good. So, like every summer, this year also I have chosen some in-home and some fun water activities for my 7 years old.

Summer Homeworks-

Every morning I would like to give my elder one some sort of homework, it can be math, reading, comprehension or science. She likes to rotate her subjects through the seven days of the week. Usually, it takes about 30-40 minutes to finish. It is a good exercise to practice all the things she has learned in her class so she can be ready for her next grade.  As I was searching on Amazon, I found some interesting summer study activity books. Here are some links to those books-

Summer Art & Craft-

The more kids will be busy with their activities, the better, and art & crafts are wonderful options to keep the young artists creative and busy during the vacations. Well, definitely it will be messy and can be very stressful to clean the room afterward, but it’s fun and always good to engage the kids in some sort of creativities. My daughter likes to draw and color, she also loves to build Legos, and she recently develops her interest in paper crafting. So, thankfully, making slimes is no longer the only option for her, and fortunately, I have found some great deals on art and crafts products. Here are the links-

Reading Story Books-

I always encourage my kids to read storybooks, it is a great way to develop their imaginations and their language skills. Storybook is very beneficial for the active kids also, reading is always good to calm those restless minds and I can also indulge some quiet time around my home. Here are the links to some great kids books-

Summer Toys-

Finally, the toys, which is never enough for my kids. When to choose their toys, I make sure that I stay under my budget because toys are always in demand and kids get easily bored with one toy very quickly, then another toy comes in the demand lists. Here I found some interesting and fun toys-

So, we are all set for the summer days, hope you like our summer activity ideas. Happy summer everybody.

HAVE A FUN SUMMER WITH YOUR LOVED ONES.

HAPPY BLOGGING.
