New Trend- HAIRPINS

Hair accessories like hairpins, claw clips, big pearl accented, different textured clips and many varieties of almost jewelry-like hairpins are one of the eye-catching hair trends this summer. You can find them almost every store and online sites. I have found some really pretty hair accessories on Amazon.

You can add this big, glittery, sparkly hairpins to your ponytails, braids, or just pin it one side of your hair behind the ears, you can even wear a different mix of hairpins, stack them or clipped through it a cascade of loose hair.

A Clean Summer Face

Healthy skin should always feel smooth, soft, supple and properly moisturized. Even in the summer days, with all the heat, dust and tons of sunblock cremes can make our skin dull, tired and clogged the pores very easily. And especially in the summer, when we have so many outdoor activities, we have to stay outside for a longer time, we need to protect the skin in a more sensitive way.  Sunscreen is meant to be a barrier for the skin against the UV rays, but at the same time, sunscreens should not be the first and only skincare in our summer skincare routine. On the contrary, it should come last or just before applying the makeup. Sometimes, sunscreen can be applied as a daytime primer for face also. So, what should we include in our summer skincare that would make our skin well hydrated and also help to protect against the heat and UV rays?

Cleanser-

We need a gentle but effective cleanser in summer, which will make our skin clean and de-clogging the pores from makeup and stubborn sunscreens, while not making the skin super dry. We have several cleansing options, the gel cleanser, the foam cleanser, the creme cleanser, acne cleanser, makeup cleanser and all in one cleanser. I prefer the gel cleanser on a daily basis, and when I apply makeup I like to do double cleansing. At first, I use the makeup remover to get rid of all the makeup and then a gentle cleanser. Sometimes, I use a simple moisturized beauty bar to keep the cleansing routine simple. And when I feel my skin need some extra cleaning, I use the detoxifying cleanser like Indian mud cleanser or active charcoal cleanser.

Toner-

During warm weather months, a skin toner can come in handy to combat breakouts caused from sweat, sunblock, and dirt clogging our pores or a combo of all three. Our skin also tends to be more oily during sticky summer days, so toner is a step in the cleansing process that removes all the stuff left behind on your skin after washing, such as makeup, excess oils, impurities, dead skin cells, or even residue left from your cleanser. By wiping away all these pore-cloggers, you reduce acne and prevent future breakouts. Choosing the right toner for your skin is a vital step and the wrong toner will affect the ph balance of our skin. Toner for dry and combination skins are totally different from the toners for oily skin. So, we have to choose our toner according to our skin’s needs.

Exfoliating-

Exfoliation in the summer is a very needed skincare step. Whether it’s a scrub, clay mask or the chemical exfoliants, it’s very important to exfoliate our face at least twice a week. It will clean the clogged pores, it will remove the dead skins, it will help the blemish-prone skin and also works great to minimize the appearances of wrinkles.

Lactic Acid

Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), also considered as a chemical exfoliant. AHAs are acids derived from foods, and, as it turns out a type of acid that’s safe to apply to our skin. Regular and proper use of Lactic Acid serums can help your skin to reduce the appearance of aging, and they can be an especially good remedy against fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of premature aging from sun damage.

Peel-off Masks-

Though I am not a big fan of peel-off masks, in these hot and humid days I really can’t overlook all the benefits of these masks. Firstly, these masks are a type of physical exfoliant, which means they remove the top layer of skin to slough away dead skin cells. This makes skin feel smooth and looks glowy. Regular use of these masks actually helps to reduce the pore size and revealing firmer skin. Plus, by making peel-offs a part of your weekly routine, you may also begin to notice a reduced appearance of fine line and wrinkles.

Antioxidants-

Use of antioxidants helps our skin against the sun damage. Its anti-inflammatory results help to calm the skin and it also beneficial in skin firming and scars treating. Vitamin C, Retinol, Vitamin-E are some of the most popular and commonly used antioxidants in our skincare products.

Vitamin C-

A favorite among dermatologists, vitamin C is one of the most studied antioxidants available on the market. It has many skin benefits, it helps to boost collagen production of the skin, and make our skin brighter. It also helps to fade dark spots and therefore works as a tone corrector. I use vitamin C serum in my daily skincare, it is the first thing I apply after clean my face.

Eye creme-

Eye cremes should be used all year round, it is a basic skincare step that is needed to follow no matter what is the weather. It nurtures the most delicate part of our face, it prevents the fine lines around our eyes and also fades the visible appearance of dark circles.

Moisturizer-

Yes, we need a moisturizer even in the summer. A light and hydrating moisturizer is a must requirement in the summer skincare steps.

Nowadays, facial mists or hydrating sprays are very popular to keep the skin moist. Carry them in purses, and a spray a little when your skin feels a little dull, you will get the instant glowy skin.

Sunscreens-

I can’t give enough emphasis on sunscreens. We should use sunscreens even we are staying inside for most of the day.  It not only helps our skin from tanning but also helps the skin from the UV rays. SPF -30 is the minimum requirements for every day uses in the summer. And for the water activities, High SPF and water-resistant sunscreens are safe to use.

Other than this skincare regimen, we have to drink plenty of water in summer days. Exercising, cutting off the caffeine, adding melons and greens in our diet will also help our skin to be healthy from inside. In summary, proper cleansing, toning, weekly exfoliating, regular moisturizing and daily uses of sunscreen should be the key steps of skincare, and with that, we also need a little self-love.

New Kylie Jenner Lip-kits

Tried for the first time and immediately fall in love with these KYLIE JENNER lip-kits. Each Lip Kit comes with a full-size Liquid Lipstick and a matching full-size Lip Liner. I got mine from Ulta.

I like pigmented lip colors, and these are super pigmented lip colors. The colors are true, long wearing and give the lips the ultimate all-day coverage. I don’t mind the matt looks, also they are not super dry for my lips. Once I moisturized my lips properly, I apply the lip liner first and then the lipstick. Both the formula give a creamy effect and really glide on the lips very smoothly, blends well too.

I got two shades- Dazzle from their new Velvet Liquid Lip collection and Head Over Heels from Matte Liquid Lip collection. Dazzle is a warm, terracotta orange shade and Head Over Heels is a beautiful plum shade.

Definitely, there are more gorgeous colors and formula to chose from KYLE COSMETICS. I am already making my future shopping list. What about you? Share your thoughts about KYLE Cosmetics.

Lip Trend- Two-tone Lip Color

Like the Ombre hair color? and now try the Ombre lip color trend or two-toned lip color. The two-toned lip trend got it’s popularity a few years ago, and now it is back in the trend and it is being hugely used by the fashion designers, models, celebrities, and for everyday looks. Ombre lips are basically gradation of colors, same color but fading from dark to light from outer lip to the inner lip or vice versa. Sure, it seems like a tricky makeup trend, but surprisingly it is very easy to follow. And the looks will be totally different, if try with the pink-orange shades then the lip will look like the stains we get after eating a popsicle.

THE STEPS OF OMBRE OR TWO-TONED LIPS-

The first step is the color selection. To decide the colors, I like to pick one color that will be my main lip color. Then I choose a color that is either lighter than my base color or darker than my base color.  But it has to be similar in hue.

The main technique to do this lip trend is to use the gradient from outer most edge to the innermost part of the lips or even going horizontally across such that one corner of the mouth is lighter in color than the other corner.

The simplest form of ombre lips is to use the lighter shade on one lip and the darker shade on the other lip and then blending them in at the inner side of the lips. This technique is hugely popular on the runway shows.

Another technique of using the colors is to line the lips with a lip liner that is one shade darker than the base lipstick color.  First, use the dark shades little thicker on the corners and gradually making thinner to the curves of lips. Then apply the base lipstick to the lips leaving out the innermost part of the lips. Finally, use the lighter lipstick and top off with clear gloss to even it all out.

Many brands have already launched some beautiful shades of two-toned lipsticks. I have tried the Laneige Two-toned lipstick, I am really impressed, it is a glossy one, and it gives me a bright stained lip.

Bubble Mask

What is BUBBLE MASK? Bubble Mask is a kind of face mask, which anyone can easily apply at home. After cleaning the face, apply it and wait for 15 minutes to activate the mask and then rinse off ( depends on the individual mask’s instructions). It’s a new trend in the beauty industry. Originally, it’s a K- Beauty trend, which now gets immense popularity among many countries. Especially in the USA, from the luxury brand to the mainstream companies, all are producing different versions of Bubble Masks. Also, in social media, Bubble Mask has been claimed a must try beauty product.

How does it work on our skin?

Yes, definitely you will feel a little weird and also look crazy while using this mask, but in reality, it’s more than a trendy beauty gimmick. It actually works. I feel it works better than the sheet masks for my skin. Because, the Bubble Mask, more specifically the Bubbling, oxygenating masks actually rely on other ingredients to preserve their bubble action until the right time. When you open them up, the bubbles are unleashed into the air gets to work and in just 15 minutes the mask starts to detoxify, oxygenate and fight against pollutants and helps the skin to achieve that pore-less, brightening and purified feel.

The concept behind Bubble Mask is fairly simple: The bubbling and fizzing action is meant to infuse the skin with oxygen and help the mask’s ingredients penetrate. Experts say, good ol’ oxygen can help wounds heal by increasing circulation, which gets more cells where they need to go to help you recover. As we get older, our circulation decreases so oxygen can make up for that. And in the process, it can up your collagen production for plump, bouncy skin.

I have seen many high-end brands as well as some drugstore brands who are producing Bubble Masks. Different bubble Masks for different targeted treatments, like Honey Bubble Mask for hydrating, Charcoal Bubble Mask for purifying the skin and so on. I like the fizzing effect on my skin, it’s kind of relaxing and I love the instant result. Try one today, it’s so much fun.

Winter Hair Care

Like our skin, our hair also needs extra care in this winter season. Dryness, dullness, dandruff, frizziness, hair thinning, split ends and other many more hair problems can create unacceptable bad hair days. So, the time is here to winterize our hair routine. I like to keep my hair care simple yet effective.

img_9840

As a mom of two, hovering among many daily activities, I really struggle to follow a perfect winter hair care. Still, I try to protect my hair from the dryness. I like to oil my hair twice a week, mostly with organic coconut oil or almond oil and I like to use very little oil just enough to moisture my scalp and hair. Because the more oil I use, the more shampoo I would be needed to wash away the oil. To prevent hair falling and hair thinning I use a mixture of oils (Castor oil, Coconut oil, and Almond Oil) and use it at least once a week. Tea tree oil and Aloe vera gel are also beneficial for hair fall.

img_9837

And in the winter, it is best to use as little chemical as possible. Then, after the shampoo, I like to use a leave-in conditioner or Moroccan oil. Also, because of using hair color, I always use Sulphate and Paraben free shampoo.

img_9836-1

Shea butter or coconut based shampoo and oil-based conditioners are always good for dryness.

img_9835

img_9834

Thick hair needs deep conditioning, once a week, hair mask is just fine and also I keep the conditioner away from my roots, again the less is good. For thin hair, the regular hair conditioner is enough, or the heavy conditioner can make the thin hair flat.

img_9838

I also reduce my blow dry time and rely upon the good old towel drying technique. I always use heat protectant product before using any hot tools for hair, like the dryer, straightener or curling wand. And after the hair styling, I use this amazing hair styling product which helps me with the frizziness.

img_9832

And for dandruff, I like to use a homemade hair pack, made with plain yogurt, lime juice, and honey.

Go natural and keep it moisturized- that’s my basic winter hair care mantra.
