Five Home Remedies To Protect The Skin From Heat

Sure, summer is the season to kick back, relax, and just enjoy being outside and not freezing, but it’s not time to slack on your skincare routine. Moreover, in summer our skin can feel dehydrated from the harsh heat, the sun rays, and sometimes the extremely hot weather can cause the heat rashes, prickly heat symptoms, skin burns, etc. Here are some common and easily available ingredients which are great for the skin. In this summers days, these natural homemade face packs will ease the skin irritation and also treat the sunburn. Along with these packs, regular sun protection like SPF is must before step out from home and also plenty of water intake is a must.

Aloe Vera Face Pack

Aloe is a summer staple, helps to treat sunburns and skin irritations. Aloe Vera acts as a moisturiser and exfoliator for the skin. I mix olive oil and aloe Vera gel and make a smooth paste. I apply it to my face and neck for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with cool water. The mask will restore the moisturiser in the skin and act as a refreshing hydrator.

Yogurt and lemon face pack-

This is an anti-inflammatory face pack which also helps to treat the sunburn. I add one tablespoon of yogurt into a bowl along with one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Then, I add one teaspoon of sandalwood powder and mix all the ingredients well. Apply the mixture on the skin and massage well. Leave it on for 10 minutes before washing off with cold water.

Tomato Face pack-

Tomatoes are healthy for the body and good for the skin as well. These have a lot of vitamin C and antioxidants that help hydrate the skin and keep it nourished. Tomato is a natural astringent and can gently remove oil from the skin.

Usually, I make one tomato paste with one tablespoon of yogurt and one pinch of sugar. This pack is very effective to make the skin tone even. It also works well for dark patches and tanning.

Cucumber Face Pack-

The most widely used vegetable in salads, cucumber, wonderfully cools down body in the scorching heat during the summers. This cheap, humble, and easily available vegetable is packed with nutrients that are beneficial for our body and skin.

Cucumber is also a favorite extract when it comes to formulating cosmetic products. It is herbal and non-irritating and often used as a remedy for puffy eyes. 

I mix two tablespoons of cucumber juice with half tablespoon rose water and one- two -tablespoon of Fuller’s earth( multani mitti/Indian clay). Apply it on the face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water.

This cucumber face pack absorbs the skin’s impurities and helps in reducing acne, blackheads and also help with the clogged pores.

Coconut Water Face Pack-

Coconut water boosts blood circulation to the skin. This allows the skin to breathe and get sufficient nutrients. Use coconut water to remove sun tan and protect the skin from after effects of sunburns.

Coconut water is rich in vitamin C that is known to effectively remove pigmentation. Other than for skin nourishment, coconut water is a natural anti-viral, antibacterial and antifungal.

I mix 1/2 a teaspoon each of turmeric powder and red sandalwood with little coconut water and applies it on the face. Then wash it off with warm water. Frequent use of this clarifying mask helps to get rid of the suntan and heat rashes.

These packs are very easy to make. The ingredients are very common and are super beneficial for all skin types.
