Product Review- The Ordinary, Part-1

A few months back, I watched Ordinary products review on youtube and thought to give it a try, so I shopped a couple of items from online and since then I am a huge fan of this cosmetic line. Ordinary is famous for its minimalist packaging and offers an abundance of brilliant, high-performance products at the amazing reasonable pricing. With a wide range of retinol, acids, oils, and vitamins to tackle all the complexion concerns here’s to my favorite Ordinary products, those help me to overcome my skincare issues.

In the first part of this product review, I will discuss some of my favorite Ordinary’s vitamins and retinoids treatments:

The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% 30ml

Tackling uneven skin tone and visible signs of aging, this gentle serum delivers a concentrated blend of vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to smooth, brighten and plump even the most pallid complexions.

Well-known for its brightening properties, The Ordinary has placed vitamin C in its pure form of L-Ascorbic Acid at the center of Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%. Formulated as an antidote to aging, this antioxidant-rich elixir hydrate, and plump skin while brightening and improving uneven skin tone. Usually, I applied at bedtime, it can be used in A.M or P.M. with proper sun protection. I can surely feel the difference after each application. This extraordinary treatment allows you to wake up to the visibly luminous, and younger-looking skin.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 30ml

Though I have a combination skin, in the summertime, my skin is getting very oily and acne-prone. This solution is a dream come true for oily skin, this potent serum targets breakouts, minimizes pores and decongests confused complexions by regulating sebum production. It has high concentrations of two of the most efficacious blemish-battling ingredients out there (niacinamide and zinc), which reduce blemish-causing bacteria, keeping your complexion clear, calm and collected.

I apply it to entire face in morning and evening before heavier creams.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

This moisturizer is one of the bestselling Ordinary product. This non-greasy cream offers both immediate hydration and lasting results with continued use. It is one of my favorite moisturizers to use through all year.

The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (Previously Advanced Retinoid 2%)

Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion is a lightweight, milky-textured serum that works hard to target visible signs of aging while remaining gentle enough to avoid the irritation caused by some retinoid products. Lost elasticity, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and uneven skin tone are all easy targets for this superlative skin savior. I was scared to use a retinoid on my skin, but my skin loves this emulsion. After just one week of use, I can see the visible difference around my smile line and on the forehead.

I apply a few drops on the face in the evening as part of my skin care regimen. It is not safe to use near to the delicate eye area if you have sensitive eyes. And sun protection in the morning is must with any kind of retinoid treatment.

In the next part of this product review, I will discuss some of the bestselling Ordinary solutions and skin care treatments.

Weekend Dinner Simplified- Chicken Meatballs with Rice Pilaf

Weekends are very special to my family, it starts with lots of planning for outing, gathering, shopping, and cooking, but, in reality, all we want is to take some rest and relax our mind and body over the weekends.  Now, who wants to cook in these summer weekends for the whole day and don’t want to have fun outside? I love to cook and I love to try different dishes, and simple dishes are always time-saving and easier to cook, so, many times I opt for a one-pot meal. My family loves to eat chicken meatballs, so, I try it to make it often, sometimes as an appetizer, sometimes for the office and school lunch, and this time I tried to mix the chicken balls with vegetables and rice, and make it a nice one-pot meal. This is also great with leftover rice and it is more nutrient than the just regular chicken dish. And it’s definitely an easy and quick recipe so that I don’t miss my summer outings.

It’s a very simple recipe, all you need are ground chicken, any kind of rice(I used jasmine rice), some of your favorites veggies, some spices and it’s done. In the first step I made the chicken balls, then I cut the vegetables and saute them, in the last step I added the uncooked rice and mix all the things and then cook it in the same pot.

So, first I made the chicken balls. Here I take half a pound ground chicken, then I add salt, sugar, egg, paprika, the five spices powder, black pepper for the flavor and then little bit cornflour and breadcrumbs to bind the balls nicely.

Next is to shape the balls. There is no need to be a perfect size and shape for each of them, as you can see mine are not.

And then shallow fry them until they are nicely golden brown and keep it aside. You can make the chicken balls earlier, and store them in the refrigerator, use it when you are ready to make the dinner. I fried the chicken balls on a Thursday evening and make the rice pilaf on Saturday.

Then in another pot, saute the vegetables. Here, I have green peas, sweet corns, and sliced carrots, these are my kid’s favorites, sometimes I also use different colours of peppers.

Then I add 1tbsp ginger-garlic paste and 2 tbsp tomato ketchup, mix it well.

Next step is to add the water. The quantity of water depends on the quantity of rice, usually, I measure a 1:2 rice and water ratio. When the water starts to boil, I add the washed and pre-soaked rice.

Cover the pot after adding the rice and check every 5 minutes until the rice is properly cooked. And in the last step, I mix the fried chicken balls, little butter and cover the pot. And then wait for 10 minutes before serving, this is important as this resting time will enhance the flavor of the dish and help to incorporate all the different ingredients altogether.

VOILA! CHICKEN BALLS WITH RICE PILAF is ready to serve.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Movie Review

It’s been 25 years since the first Jurassic Park(1993) released, and still, I feel the same anticipation for dinosaurs movies. I can’t get enough of Jurassic. Whenever I see any Jurassic trailer and then it’s signature background music, I get hooked. So, for me, Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom is a must-watch movie. Only this time, it’s getting better, because, this movie reminds some of the nostalgic moments from the previous Jurassic’s and also, this movie reveals the next chapters of Jurassic. It is a good transition movie, a fast-paced storyline and full of actions are in store for the viewers.

MOVIE- JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM

DIRECTOR- J.A. BAYONA

CAST- CHRIS PRATT, BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD, JEFF GOLDBLUM, TED LEVINE, JUSTICE SMITH

The movie starts after the three years of the luxurious theme park Jurassic World’s destruction. The park is getting near to extinct because of a deadly volcanic eruption. And so, Owen( Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) has been asked to join a mission to save the remaining dinosaurs. Here the story resembles previous movie The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The mission is not only to save the dinosaurs but the hidden agenda is to sell dinosaurs to the highest bidder. So, the rescuing team geared up to save the rare and various aggressive dinosaurs especially the carnivorous ones. Owen and Claire started their journey without knowing the truth and when they came to know, it was quite late, so, they had to fight and suffered a lot while escaping from that situation. The private army captured many dinosaurs and managed to transport them from the island. The touching moment was to see the dinosaurs crying for help when the volcanic fire destroy the whole island.

Then the story goes from the wild nature to the civilized Lockwood’s estate, where conspiracy and greed lead the plot. Dr. Henry Wu (from the Jurassic Park) was able to create a dangerous species that resembles a dinosaur but can be used as a lethal weapon also. Warlords around the world have gathered to buy those dinosaurs. Now, humans get another way to create terror in the world. In the end, Owen and Claire managed to save those dinosaurs but the damage was already done. Like the previous movies,  Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom also continues to explore the dangers of playing god, humanity’s mistreatment of animals, and the ethical problems of for-profit animal parks. And it’s not the end of the story, because of the mankind’s uncontrollable greediness, the era of dinosaurs has begun again.

To me, it is a good movie to watch with your family and friends. This movie took me back to my school days. I am ready for the next round 🙂

Let’s Talk Eyeliners

Eyes are always the focal point in our makeup, and the most used makeup product is the eyeliner. Black eyeliner is the safest choice for the office, college, party, basically for everywhere. And nowadays other colors are also getting attention. From a playful look to a bold look, the traditional look or just for an everyday outing, eyeliner is a must for every girl’s vanity. As a makeup lover, I like to purchase new products, but I am little conservative while buying an eyeliner. Why? two main reasons, I like to purchase the same eyeliner every time which I know is most suited for me, I know which shade of black will go perfectly with my skin tone, and without any fails, my eye makeup will be perfect. The second reason is, eye sensitivity. I am little skeptical to use a new formula on my eyes. The eyeliners and eye pencils which are tried and tested for a long time are always the right choices for my eyes. Here are some of my prolong used and most trustworthy liquid eyeliners.

I tried to demonstrate the pigmentation and thickness of these eyeliners. There are some black eyeliners and some color eye pencils.

So, here on the top, I have a gold-tone Hyperglossy liquid eyeliner from Maybelline New York, this is great for the festival time or for parties. Next is my most favorite Stay All Day liquid eyeliner from Stila in the shade of Intense Black, it’s a microtip liner, easy to use, just love it. Next is the popular Kat Von D black eyeliner in the shade Trooper, again deep black, excellent for a dramatic look. Then I have two black eye pencils, Infallible long were eye pencil from Loreal in the shade of Black Noir and another favorite from Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil in the shade Perversion. I love this shade, this is my fourth one, I use it every day.

Here I have my color eye pencils. The first eye pencil is waterproof kajal from Rimmel, which is a grayish glittery black pencil, I used it on the evening parties, it’s not very glittery though but enough to create a smoky look. The next brown eyeliner is from Kat Von D, Hemingway, nice color for a subtle makeup. As you can see I am a big fan of Urban Decay eye pencils, I got the four shades of them, each of them are quite unique but trust me, they are amazing. Sometimes I use them as the base, or smudge them over my lids and create a slightly tinted shadow, and sometimes I use it as the bottom eyeliners. I consider makeup as another form of art, be creative and be playful, it is fun. Love yourself and always stay happy.

Waterfalls -Nature’s Wonder

Water, I want to be like water: strong enough to hold up a ship, but able to slip through your fingers.

                                                                             MICHELLE WILLIAMS

I consider waterfall is the nature’s finest art, it is serene, romantic and full of life. From far, it can be a beautiful canvas to capture a perfect scenery, but once you go near to her you will hear her roar, you will feel her force, the spontaneity. To me, waterfalls are the symbols of the celebration of life.

Here are some of our family favorites, captured by us.

Summer Activities For Kids Under $10

Summer is here and so does the long summer vacation, no school, and lots of fun for my kiddos. I and my daughter have planned to do so many things for this vacation, though I doubt about the executions of those plans. Still, its fun to plan, especially if you have active kids like mine. As the summer vacation starts, the daily routine gets messed up pretty quickly, but that’s okay with me. As long as they are busy with some kind of activities and not engaging their time only on the internet and not watching Netflix for the whole day, I am good. So, like every summer, this year also I have chosen some in-home and some fun water activities for my 7 years old.

Summer Homeworks-

Every morning I would like to give my elder one some sort of homework, it can be math, reading, comprehension or science. She likes to rotate her subjects through the seven days of the week. Usually, it takes about 30-40 minutes to finish. It is a good exercise to practice all the things she has learned in her class so she can be ready for her next grade.  As I was searching on Amazon, I found some interesting summer study activity books. Here are some links to those books-

Summer Art & Craft-

The more kids will be busy with their activities, the better, and art & crafts are wonderful options to keep the young artists creative and busy during the vacations. Well, definitely it will be messy and can be very stressful to clean the room afterward, but it’s fun and always good to engage the kids in some sort of creativities. My daughter likes to draw and color, she also loves to build Legos, and she recently develops her interest in paper crafting. So, thankfully, making slimes is no longer the only option for her, and fortunately, I have found some great deals on art and crafts products. Here are the links-

Reading Story Books-

I always encourage my kids to read storybooks, it is a great way to develop their imaginations and their language skills. Storybook is very beneficial for the active kids also, reading is always good to calm those restless minds and I can also indulge some quiet time around my home. Here are the links to some great kids books-

Summer Toys-

Finally, the toys, which is never enough for my kids. When to choose their toys, I make sure that I stay under my budget because toys are always in demand and kids get easily bored with one toy very quickly, then another toy comes in the demand lists. Here I found some interesting and fun toys-

So, we are all set for the summer days, hope you like our summer activity ideas. Happy summer everybody.

HAVE A FUN SUMMER WITH YOUR LOVED ONES.

HAPPY BLOGGING.

Hope

BUT… WHAT IF I STOP HOPING

I do not hope for my future anymore

I do not hope to see how my kids will grow up

I do not hope to become more successful

I do not hope to hold the hand of my loved one when I will be old

I do not hope to travel the world

I do not hope to wait and see what the life has planned for me

I do not hope to see tomorrow’s sun

I do not hope to live my life anymore

What will be the world becomes if there will be no HOPE? In this chaotic world around us, it is possible that we lost our faith in life, that maybe we stop hoping, we stop wanting to live anymore.

But if we think the other way, if we come out from the negative zone and enter a different zone with a positive mind and say…

I hope to be loved

I hope that all my dreams will come true

I hope good health and happiness of my family

I hope that my future will be bright and full of joy

I hope to overcome my fears

I hope the world will be peaceful one day

I hope to see what life has stored for me.

No matter what will be the crisis I will face, I will overcome every hurdle. I will keep my hope alive. With a positive mind and with joy in my heart I will celebrate my life and I promise to myself that I will live and enjoy it until life leaves me.

Natural Homemade Skin Exfoliation by Priyanka Chopra

A few months back the famous Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra shared her skin home remedies on Vogue. I watched it on YouTube, the video got viral since it has been published. In this video, Priyanka shared her traditional homemade DIY body exfoliate pack, lip scrub, and scalp treatment remedies. The ingredients she used are all natural and quite staple in the Indian households and the body pack is also very popular across generations. If you have the time and the right ingredients at hand, then once a week of this pack will definitely take care of your skin in this hot summer days. I tried to follow Priyanka’s instructions and made this pack at home and then applied it to my skin. ( But before you use it on your skin, just make sure to do the allergy test by putting it on back of your palm, don’t use it if your skin got irritated). It can use as a great anti-tan mask for your face. This mask has all the natural ingredients which are very safe for any type of skin, it can use as a hydrating mask also. I will demonstrate the difference before and after using this pack in my hand. But first, the steps, how to make this amazing pack:

(All the ingredients are easily available in any Indian grocery store.) Here I took little less than 1/3 rd cup of chickpea flour(Besan), 1/4th cup of plain yogurt, 2 tablespoon milk, 1 tablespoon sandalwood powder(exotic ingredient from India), a little bit of lemon juice and 1/4th teaspoon turmeric powder. Then I mixed all the ingredients until it looked like a smooth mask. I apply it on my skin and let it dry for 10-12 minutes, then I rubbed it nicely and you can see it works as a great exploitation while massaging with your fingers and then use a wet cotton cloth to clean it and voila you can see the instant difference.

The skin will look smoother and more hydrated and because of the turmeric, your skin will look fresher than before. But excessive use of turmeric can make your skin a bit yellowish, so be careful about the quantity. Hope you will try it and let me know how you feel about this mask.

Be Gorgeous and Happy Blogging.

My Saturday Breakfast Dilemma

Every Friday night is a night of making plans for the weekends, we plan that we will wake up early, will try to make a nice sumptuous breakfast, then get ready and we will do lunch outside, then we can go shopping or movie or something equally interesting. Well, like I said, we plan that on Friday night, and then we go to sleep. In my dream also I am making the sumptuous meal like Egg Benedict with Hollandaise sauce or chicken noodle or something decadent with egg etc. Where is in the reality, as the alarm is in silent mode and our precious children are in deep sleep, we got a chance to enjoy the sweet morning sleep a little bit longer than it should be. Results, we woke up a little after 10 o’clock and started to think what will we prepare for a lunch or a brunch? This is a kind of paradoxical situation for us, we want to get up and get started for the weekend but after a long tiring week, sleep is the only indulgence we want to have. So be it, just when I realized we have lost our nice morning breakfast time and started to give up hope for my continental or any kind of exotic breakfast, the husband came to rescue. Sometimes only the simple food is enough to start the day. So, on this Saturday morning, he managed the kitchen while I was helping him with the ingredients.

It was a simple breakfast, Pancake. But that’s all I need to clear my head and to get ready for my Saturday outing.
