Down to the Aisle

Today is a special day,

Today we will make our new way

With you by my side, I will drift myself away

As the morning start

I can sense that I don’t want to be anymore apart

Friends are here, with good wishes in their heart

I am preparing myself for the new start

I have worn the gown now

It’s as white as the snow

I know it will look perfect when I stand beside you

I wonder how are you?

I am nervous, I am pale, but my thoughts are ready to flow

I have started my walk, while everybody else is welcoming me as they stand

I can see your eyes, twinkling from behind,

Those promising eyes, warming me from my fright.

My hands are sweating, heels are shaking,

But I am walking, walking to you,

Down to the aisle, you are,

Reaching out, eager.

Here, now I am here,

Feeling like a princess without any doubt

Hold me, hold me tight

As I am here to say my vows right.

Prism Eyeshadow Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills- Product Review

I recently bought this wonderful eyeshadow palette from Sephora, Prism by Anastasia Beverly Hills. This is my second palette from ABH, the first one is Renaissance. I am really impressed by ABH’s shadow quality, they are highly pigmented, longlasting(with the eye primer) and lots of color variety. When I saw Prism’s nice mix of vibrant colors, I couldn’t resist myself. This palette contains 14 colors, there are 7 matte eyeshadow and 7 glittery pigments. What I really like about this palette is the selection of colors, there are some bold colors and there are some soft colors also. This palette can help you to create a glamorous party look, you can create a soft daytime look, or you can achieve a fiery summer party look also.

Let’s go through the colors, on the top line, there are 4 matte shadows, Eden is the soft matte orangy shadow, it’s a good transition color, though I have to reapply it a couple of time to get the desired color intensity. Unity is another nice transition color for the overall lid or to highlight your browbone. Now, my most favorite color in this pallet is Sphere, it’s a perfect color for this time of year, even if it looks bright neon yellow in the picture, its actually a very soothing color once applied on the lid. Obsidian is a dark shade, perfect for the smoky eye look or you can use it on the waterline also. Lucid, Sphinx and Osiris are the highly glittery pigments, a little fall down will be noticed, but great shades, especially Sphinx, a beautiful bronze shadow, perfect for evening.

On the bottom line of this palette, we have 4 glittery pigments and 3 matte shadows.  Dimension is a beautiful color, it will give you a metallic look, very trendy yet graceful. The parallel is a warm brown shadow, I always like to have a nice brown shadow in my palette, brown is a versatile eyeshadow, can be used with any makeup look. Another fabulous color from this pallet is Saturn, it is a beautiful salmon red color, it’s bold but not too harsh, you can create a beautiful sunset look with this one, perfect for daytime. The pyramid is gold glittery pigment. The Throne is another metallic color from this palette, it is a dark greenish glitter, little different and fun to use. The Lure is a matte soft pink shade, perfect for everyday look. And then we have Eternal, it is a beige glittery one, perfect for a glamorous look.

To create this sunset look, I used Eden as my transition color, then I used Saturn on top of  Eden. I used Parallel to cut the crease and then blend the shades nicely. Then I used Sphere for the entire lid and top with Sphinx for the center of the lid. And I used Unity for my browbone and Lucid for the eye corners. Hope you like my Sunset look. Share your ideas and thoughts with me.

Henna, A Natural Way to Hair Color

What Is Henna?

Henna is one of the most popular beauty herbs in India and tropical countries that is known for its cooling effects. Since ages, it has been used to make hair shiny, healthy and gorgeous. Henna is one kind of herbal leaves, once dried then it can be finely grounded and uses as a powder. The power of this green herb is not only used to decorate hands or cover greys but is also applied to hair to bring back the health of your precious lashes.

Is Henna safe for hair?

Yes, Henna is much safer for the hair unlike the other permanent chemically induced hair colors available in the market. Henna restores the acid-alkaline balance of the scalp without affecting the natural balance of your hair. Henna is a very good conditioner for your hair. It covers each hair shaft and builds a protective layer that safeguards the strands from damage. Regular use of henna makes your hair thick and strong by locking the essential moisture in the hair. Henna is also known to cure dandruff quite effectively.

Is Henna permanent?

Yes, henna does not wash out although it will gradually fade over time. Because of this, and because the dye works like a varnish over your natural hair color rather than chemically changing it, emerging roots are far subtler than after using the chemical dyes. Originally, henna gives a reddish tone to the hair, it can vary, the lighter colored hair will look more reddish than the darker hair. Nowadays, a lot of varieties of different colored henna are available in the market.

How do you use Henna?

Applying henna can get a little messy. Choose an area where you are going to apply henna and lay down some newspaper to catch any stray spills. Cover your shoulder with a towel. It’s said that overnight soaking the henna in warm water can create a very rich color. Then the steps are as follows:

  1. Smooth a protective balm like vaseline around the hairline – to ensure your skin is not accidentally tinted.
  2. Wear gloves, apply the henna evenly to clean, dry hair; dry hair allows the color to saturate each strand. For best results, work from the roots to the tips, starting from the back of the head and moving towards the front.
  3. Then mix approximately 2 cups henna with 4 teaspoons of lemon juice and  2 tablespoons coffee and half cup yogurt, into a paste of toothpaste consistency. Apply over scalp and hair leave on for about one hour. Wash off. If color is desired, avoid yogurt. If hair is dry, add 2 teaspoons herbal or natural hair oil to the paste. Leave for at least one hour; up to two hours is recommended. Wrapping your hair in cling film or a shower cap will result in redder shades, whereas leaving it unwrapped (and therefore cooler) will create a darker color. Rinse off your henna with warm water. The color will continue to develop for up to 24 hours. I usually wait for one day to do shampoo.

How often do I need Henna reapplication?

Like any other hair dye, Henna is also recommended for retouching on grays at least twice a month to maintain the color and vibrancy, though it varies from person to person.

Mother’s Day

Lara is very upset today, she was planning to go to a movie with her friends. She was so excited in the morning, she was waiting to have some fun with her friends. She is on the break from college just for this week, so wanted to make this time worth while. As the weekend started, she started making plans – shopping, dining and then the movie. She was busy on the Friday and Saturday, at last, on Sunday, she became free. So, today, since the morning, she was looking for the showtimes and when she got the perfect timing with all five seats for her and for her friends, she was so happy. She started texting on WhatsApp with the movie timings and all. But, everybody replied that they had other plans, isn’t that weird? All of a sudden, everybody got busy on the Sunday afternoon? Lara got restless, she started calling her friends, shockingly all of them had the same reason, they were all busy because today is Mother’s Day and everybody wanted to spend time with their moms, well not everybody, since Kiara’s mom was working today, so, Kiara went to her mom’s hospital to give her a surprise visit. And Lara’s rest of the friends also had plans with their moms, some of them were going for Mother’s Day special brunch, even one of them was going to the movie with her mother. Lara is very disappointed with her friends, what is the reason to celebrate Mother’s Day? Mother’s Day should be celebrated every day, she felt irritated. Lara refused to celebrate these special name tagged days, like Valentine’s Day, Friendship day, Women’s Day or Mother’s Day. She believes that these days are only to promote the consumerism, this is a very clever way of making marketing strategies. She is utterly against to celebrate these kind of days. She got angry with her friends to behave so stupidly like the others. After the lunch, she was feeling little bored, no video calling, no chatting, all she can see is her friends’ selfies with their moms on Facebook and Instagram. She lost her patience, she has nothing to do now, what kind of stupidity is this? As she is determined to go the movie alone, she started to get ready.

As she is almost ready to leave, suddenly she overheard her mother’s voice. Lara’s mom was talking to someone over the phone. Her mom was giggling and sounded excited, she was telling the other person, “yes, my daughter also made me silly cute cards when she was in school. Even one year, I remember, she woke up early in the morning and made breakfast with her dad. It felt so nice. And you know one Mother’s Day..”, Lara could hear her mom’s voice was rising in excitement as she was sharing her Mother’s Day memories with her friend, ” ..I think 5 years back, she was in high school then, she gave me one amazing in-home facial and pedicure. I was so pampered that day, it felt so special. My little girl was taking care of me as I used to take care of her when she was a baby.” Lara got little confused, does her mom misses those days? Is her mom expecting something from her for today? Her mom is so busy all the time, does she even know that today is Mother’s Day? Yes, Lara used to celebrate Mother’s Day, but that was a long time back. For last five-six years, she got so busy with her life that she almost forgot about Mother’s Day. She only realized this year, because of all of her friends, of course. Lara was feeling hesitated, should she wish her mom? or she can give a nice Mother’s Day card? she has time. It’s still Sunday, 13th May, it’s not over yet. She felt little embarrassed too, suddenly Lara got the feeling that maybe her mom was waiting for the last 5-6 years to hear Happy Mother’s Day from her, or expected a nice treat or just a hug. She felt guilty, she wanted to go to the Hallmark store to get a perfect Mother’s Day card. Then it would be little late, she wanted to wish her mom now. She started thinking, and quickly draw a rough portrait of her mother. It was not perfect but she could manage to draw her mom’s beautiful eyes, and then she wrote,”Today and always, I love you. Happy Mother’s Day”. Her mom was still talking over the phone, Lara softly patted her mom’s shoulder. Her mom surprisedly looked back to her. She handed over the portrait to her mom. The other lady was still talking on the phone, while her mom’s eyes were fixed onto the portrait only. Lara could see her mom’s eyes were getting wet, she looked at Lara and then she hugged Lara like never before. She kissed on her forehead, kissed on her cheeks and then hugged her one more time. Then mom said, “thank you, darling, I thought you will never give me any of your handmade Mother’s Day card to me. Thank you so much, it’s so precious”. Lara was relieved, she felt happy now, since the morning she was feeling very grumpy, she got nothing to do, her friends got busy, her planning for a perfect day out with friends got failed. Lara was so upset, but to see her mother’s proud face, Lara got so emotional. Lara decided to spend the rest of the day with her mom. It was a day well spent, in the house, Lara, and her mom only, remembering all those sweet childish acts of her.

Often we think that we are being stupid to celebrate these so-called days. Yes, agreed that there shouldn’t be only one specific day to celebrate love or only a day in the year to celebrate womanhood is not justified or no special day is required to show love and respect to our mother, every day can be Mother’s Day or every day can be Hearts day. But, in reality, is it true? Do we really have the time to celebrate every day as Valentine’s Day or do we hug our mom every day and tell them how much we love them and how much we are grateful to them for all their care and support? Do we really try to make everyday special for our mom’s? Well, let’s have this debate at some other time.

As of now, let’s celebrate this Mother’s Day with gratitude, respect, and love, let’s show our moms that how privileged and lucky we are that we have them in our life.

Happy Mother’s Day to all beautiful moms around the world.

Product review: $7 Target Beauty Box

Yes, I got 8 items and $9 in coupons from Target Beauty Box, Be you(tiful) for only $7. I am little skeptical about beauty boxes, I have read some good reviews on some of the very popular monthly beauty subscriptions, but never really tried one. When I saw these Target beauty box at our local Target store, I could not resist myself. Target has my favorite drugstore brands and some of the popular high-end products, they have some brands from UK and Korea also. It’s a good mix of brands and I get a nice wide variety to choose from. In this beauty box, I got the products which I never tried before, these products can be quite useful for my daily skincare routine. I got two full-size products, one sample of beauty vitamin, one shampoo, and one conditioner in travel size, makeup remover eye pads, one cleanser and one moisturizer in sample sizes, and I got total $9 coupons on the full sizes of these products.

Olly beauty Gummy’s with biotin, borage oil, and antioxidants. I haven’t tried it yet, don’t know if I can notice any difference by one capsule though. But I like the Simple Miscellar makeup remover eye pads, the packet contains 30 pads, it is very soothing for the sensitive eye area.

This cream by Honest Beauty contains Daikon Radish Seed oil and other herbal extracts. I have combination to dry skin, and I am always looking for products which can take care of dryness. It is a nice, smooth cream, a good enough light summer moisturizer for me.

This is a clay-to-mousse charcoal cleanser by Loreal. It is a good one, gives me a clean look after cleansing.

Keraphix shampoo and conditioner by Nexxus, it contains collagen and amino acids which can treat damaged hair. I can see the difference, this combination definitely smoothed my hair after just one washing.

It’s a nice minty spring- summer color by Sinful Nail Colour

This e.l.f. Lip Tint in the Perfect Pink shade and it is also a full size. It gives my lip a very natural pink tint. It moisture my lips so nicely that I am replacing it with my lip balm.

Around the park

We like to go to the park, especially our kids like to go there, and I get a chance to just enjoy the time without worrying about the mess. Sunday afternoon is the most heightened time when my kids are in the disastrous mode. After the heavy Sunday lunch, when I and husband are all set for our most desirable Sunday nap, some extraterrestrial superpower got into our kids’ blood steam. They got supercharged and started doing all the naughtiness. All my magazines were spreading on the floor, the showpieces have been split into halves, cushions were used to make the imaginary fort. The little chair climber dropped every little thing from my kitchen platforms and when we saw that my elder one started doing science experimentation with food, we canceled our much needed afternoon nap and headed to the park.

As spring is here, afternoon stroll in the park is quite a relaxing one. Last Sunday we went to a park. The park is very beautiful, a lot of kids were playing and their parents were watching them from the bench. I saw parents faces and could identify their reasons behind the park visits. Those poor souls were as tired as I was. They were also relaxing while watching their kids. I got a job there too, as my husband was busy to look after our kids, my job was to look after the stroller. After spending some time in the park, I felt that I have become the sole protector of the stroller, not only it is a must needed baby gear, it also carried the jackets, water bottles, snacks and most importantly diaper bag, which can’t get lost. The rest of the afternoon went very well, there, for some time I also enjoyed with my kids, as they were jumping, running, giggling around.

The job of a parent is definitely a tough one, one has to be more patience, responsible, had to give up time for the little ones, it’s a 24/7 tiring job. But when I remember my childhood, I could see myself playing in the local park and running, sliding, bouncing with my friends, I could felt that little park time made me so happy. Then I realized it, even I have to settle down with my priorities, its worth it. Childhood is the most precious time we have in our life, and as a parent, it’s our privilege to nurture it.

Spring-summer finds from IKEA

I love to go to Ikea for shopping, my kids love their meatballs and deserts and my elder one is always interested in the play area. I like their seasonal stuff, as well as their space-saving types of furniture. Last Sunday we visited local Ikea store to find some new fresh looks for our home and bingo we got what we have wanted.

There was some special display on the sustainable materials, I like the idea, we need more environment-friendly products around us. But what I really like about these eco-friendly materials is that they are mostly from India.

I am quite familiar with these materials, those can be easily found in Indian villages. The whole Ikea looks like a greenhouse.

There are lots of options to choose from the artificial green indoor and outdoor plants, colorful floral decor, beautifully printed curtains to eco- friendly products.

It was so refreshing in there that I wanted to redo my entire home. I got some really nice deal though. Now, I am excited to place those around my house and be ready for the summer entertainments.

Hope you like my spring- summer finds. Share your favorite finds for this season.

The Post, Movie Review

We are a movie buff family, we love to watch old, new, international, local all kinds of movies. Recently I watched one of my favorite director Stephen Speilberg’s star-studded movie The Post and got totally spellbound by it. Here go my thoughts on the movie.

Movie- The Post                                                                                                                          Directed by-Steven Spielberg                                                                                                Produced by- Steven Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger, Amy Pascal                          Written by- Liz Hannah, Josh Singer
Starring- Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Tracy Letts.

The Post is a political drama, telling about an era where twitters and social media were non-existent and newspapers were going through an awakening period where they began to realize their importance as a reliable source for the national and foreign news. This was the era when newspapers could start an uprising, open up people’s mind, even able to expose corrupt politics in front of the nation. The film tells us about the revelations of the Pentagon Papers. It tells about how a newspaper which was used to toe the party line, just became aware of the policial conspiracies, their responsibilities and how they started to fight for the right to publish the authentic news.

This movie is taking us to a most disturbing period of America, Kennedy was assassinated, the Vietnam war is going on for 6 years, people wanted answers, they wanted to end the war, they wanted their boys back from the war.                                                                           It was early 1966 when State Department military analyst Daniel Ellsberg (Matthew Rhys, BTW catch him in The Americans, streaming on Amazon Prime videos) found no progress in theVietnam war, in fact, it was a hopeless situation for the American soldiers, the troops were also getting restless to come back home. But he got shocked to see that after conveying about this bad war situation to the Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, the government was trying to cover the war facts from the people. McNamara told the press that the news from war zone was in favor to Americans. Ellsberg got suspicious. After some time of this incident, in 1971, when Ellsberg was working as a civilian military contractor in RAND corporation, he was able to leak the documents on the Vietnam War to reporters at The New York Times. And from that moment the movie entered to the gripping newspaper drama. All that suspense, the secret messenger, spying on each other’s agency, the competition between The New York Times and The Washington Post, all came to life. Gradually Speilberg set the tension, treated each individual with a different motive, the plot gets complicated yet entertaining. Will the confidential documents be released by the press? which newspaper will get the first chance to this papers? Will president Nixon act against it or will he try to shut it? All these uncertainties carry until the end of the movie.                                                        Besides all these suspense, all the characters of the movie did outstanding acting. Meryl Streep as Katharine (Kay) Graham was splendid. Katherine had taken over her late husband’s place as a publisher but was not accepted as the head of The Washington Post newspaper. Meryl Streep’s acting was beautiful while portraying Katharine’s emotional journey. People think Kay was seating on the thorn where a man was supposed to seat. But her father and husband’s legacy had to continue. So she stepped in, she acted like an owner should act, suddenly she realized the time has come when she should take some bold decisions, but those decisions can make her newspaper business go into bankruptcy, her reputation could be at stake, her employees and friend’s future might be in great danger. And if she took the steps then she could tell the truth to the nation. People should know the truth, it’s the right of the people and its the right of the newspaper to show the facts to the commons. The newspaper must gain their control. They must become the authentic source of all news. And she did it, her publications changed the history of the American newspaper. Once that was a little spark now became a wildfire. Every newspaper followed her lead, The Washington Post was not just a local newspaper anymore. Katherine Graham was a true inspiration for the other ladies and so is Meryl Streep.                                                                                                                                                 Tom Hanks is brilliant as ever. His looks, his headstrong attitudes, his determination everything was so perfect. He gave full justice to his role. Tom Hanks played the role Post editor Ben Bagdikian. Once who was very friendly to the former president now became a true journalist. Always striving for the truth, curious about the new conspiracy discoveries, and loyal to his newspaper. Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep’s rebellious attitudes were very intriguing. Overall, The Post is Spielberg’s one of the finest creation. You will surely like the newsroom drama and the gripping political conspiracy, even if you don’t have much interest or enough knowledge in politics(like me). This movie is a very thrilling experience for me, I would have never thought that a period political drama could be so interesting. It’s a must watch, I would like to watch it again just to connect the dots one more time, the sensitive government papers leaks, the newspapers fight for the right to publishing the corruption, Katharine’s own battle for freedom as a woman and the power play of the White House, everything is worth to watch over and over again.

I was told that The Post is the prequel to the famous Oscar-winning movie All The President’s Men,1976, eager to watch this one also, really can’t get over with the political conspiracies.

Thanks for reading

Happy blogging.

Death

What is death? Is it a death of a body?

Is it the death of senses? Is it the death of the cells?

Is it the death of a life? What is life? Is it the opposite of death?

Is life more beautiful than death?

Is a peaceful death more beautiful than a life?

Is the end of life means the end of relationships? Is it the end of promises? Is it the end of a journey? Or the journey is still on?

What is a memory? Will memory be with us till our death?

What will happen after death? Will we still be alive after death?

Will I still be alive in my kid’s memory after the death?

Will I still remember my journey after the death? Or will I continue my journey? Will it be a journey to another life or it will be just a journey after death?
