Holiday Beauty Haul

It’s that time of the year again when you will get the ultimate shopping experience from the high-end makeup brands to the drugstore ones. And like every year, this year also I got tempted and able to bag a few goodies for myself.

Huda Beauty has recently launched their spectacular eyeshadow pallet Mercury Retrograde and as a Huda fan, I had to purchase this one. Though it’s a bit pricy, I think it’s totally worth the money. Along with the packaging what I most like about this pallet is the amazing colors pay off, good quality glittery shadows and beautifully curated colors for all the skin colors.

Next is Pat McGrath Labs mini eyeshadow pallet Eye Ecstasy in the color Subversive. Highly pigmented colors, great for an evening party and easy to carry for traveling.

And drum roll please, I got my favorite Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finishing Setting Powder in the shade, medium. It gives a super smooth finish, does not look cakey or does not dry the skin. Totally worth the money.

Next, I bought some of my favorite skincare goodies- Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum cream, Drunk Elephant night care set and the hair care kit from Briogio.

This hair care set is really good, as a frizzy hair sufferer, I am relieved a bit. I have heard many good reviews on Briogio masks and after using the first time, I also recommend it.

Last but not least I also bought Tresor from Lancome perfume for me and Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue perfume for my hubby.

These are my Sephora beauty hauls for this holiday season.

Happy Holidays everyone

Makeup can never be completed without the right tools, the application of makeup is the most important step. This is the time when the makeup brushes become the magic wands and your face becomes the canvas. The most essential and frequently used makeup brushes are definitely worth to buy. Here I am sharing some of my most used make up brushes for the face.

This flat brush is the most essential one to apply the first step of any makeup base, applying the foundation. Any liquid and creme formula can be applied with this brush. Sometimes, I apply my primer and moisturiser with it. It is very easy to apply, just glide the brush like a pencil over your face.

This brush is also a bluff brush, this brush helps to blend the powder evenly. Moving in circular strokes is the key when using this brush.

Contour brush is another essential tool to achieve the flawless make up look. Now, we may have not been able to create Kim Kardashian cheekbones but, we can definitely give our face a nice lift up look. Morphe brushes have a really big collection of contour brushes, check out their website and you can see how many varieties of contour brushes they have. But, for everyday use and for basic face contouring, I like to use an angled contour brush to precise the depth of my cheeks. Contouring will take some practice, and every face is different, so contouring application solely depends on the structure of the individual faces. And for a beginner, you just need to find your hollow under the cheekbones and then glide the brush in an upward motion, then glide the brush with a little product around your face to create a chiseled look. You can take a small eyeshadow brush and give few light strokes on the side of your nose with a little product to contour the nose.

This dome-shaped brush is perfect for bringing your cheeks to life. Tap the bristles into a blush of your choice to pick up just a bit of color and move to the upward or circular strokes over your cheeks. If you need to soften the color, go back over your cheeks with rapid, back-and-forth strokes.

Last but not least, another magical method in today’s makeup trends, the highlights. There are are so many varieties of highlighters and the selection of proper brushes depends on the formula of the highlighter.

So, these are my favorites in face make up brushes, in my next blog I will share my favorite eye shadow brushes.

Five Home Remedies To Protect The Skin From Heat

Sure, summer is the season to kick back, relax, and just enjoy being outside and not freezing, but it’s not time to slack on your skincare routine. Moreover, in summer our skin can feel dehydrated from the harsh heat, the sun rays, and sometimes the extremely hot weather can cause the heat rashes, prickly heat symptoms, skin burns, etc. Here are some common and easily available ingredients which are great for the skin. In this summers days, these natural homemade face packs will ease the skin irritation and also treat the sunburn. Along with these packs, regular sun protection like SPF is must before step out from home and also plenty of water intake is a must.

Aloe Vera Face Pack

Aloe is a summer staple, helps to treat sunburns and skin irritations. Aloe Vera acts as a moisturiser and exfoliator for the skin. I mix olive oil and aloe Vera gel and make a smooth paste. I apply it to my face and neck for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with cool water. The mask will restore the moisturiser in the skin and act as a refreshing hydrator.

Yogurt and lemon face pack-

This is an anti-inflammatory face pack which also helps to treat the sunburn. I add one tablespoon of yogurt into a bowl along with one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Then, I add one teaspoon of sandalwood powder and mix all the ingredients well. Apply the mixture on the skin and massage well. Leave it on for 10 minutes before washing off with cold water.

Tomato Face pack-

Tomatoes are healthy for the body and good for the skin as well. These have a lot of vitamin C and antioxidants that help hydrate the skin and keep it nourished. Tomato is a natural astringent and can gently remove oil from the skin.

Usually, I make one tomato paste with one tablespoon of yogurt and one pinch of sugar. This pack is very effective to make the skin tone even. It also works well for dark patches and tanning.

Cucumber Face Pack-

The most widely used vegetable in salads, cucumber, wonderfully cools down body in the scorching heat during the summers. This cheap, humble, and easily available vegetable is packed with nutrients that are beneficial for our body and skin.

Cucumber is also a favorite extract when it comes to formulating cosmetic products. It is herbal and non-irritating and often used as a remedy for puffy eyes.

I mix two tablespoons of cucumber juice with half tablespoon rose water and one- two -tablespoon of Fuller’s earth( multani mitti/Indian clay). Apply it on the face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water.

This cucumber face pack absorbs the skin’s impurities and helps in reducing acne, blackheads and also help with the clogged pores.

Coconut Water Face Pack-

Coconut water boosts blood circulation to the skin. This allows the skin to breathe and get sufficient nutrients. Use coconut water to remove sun tan and protect the skin from after effects of sunburns.

Coconut water is rich in vitamin C that is known to effectively remove pigmentation. Other than for skin nourishment, coconut water is a natural anti-viral, antibacterial and antifungal.

I mix 1/2 a teaspoon each of turmeric powder and red sandalwood with little coconut water and applies it on the face. Then wash it off with warm water. Frequent use of this clarifying mask helps to get rid of the suntan and heat rashes.

These packs are very easy to make. The ingredients are very common and are super beneficial for all skin types.

A Clean Summer Face

Healthy skin should always feel smooth, soft, supple and properly moisturized. Even in the summer days, with all the heat, dust and tons of sunblock cremes can make our skin dull, tired and clogged the pores very easily. And especially in the summer, when we have so many outdoor activities, we have to stay outside for a longer time, we need to protect the skin in a more sensitive way.  Sunscreen is meant to be a barrier for the skin against the UV rays, but at the same time, sunscreens should not be the first and only skincare in our summer skincare routine. On the contrary, it should come last or just before applying the makeup. Sometimes, sunscreen can be applied as a daytime primer for face also. So, what should we include in our summer skincare that would make our skin well hydrated and also help to protect against the heat and UV rays?

We need a gentle but effective cleanser in summer, which will make our skin clean and de-clogging the pores from makeup and stubborn sunscreens, while not making the skin super dry. We have several cleansing options, the gel cleanser, the foam cleanser, the creme cleanser, acne cleanser, makeup cleanser and all in one cleanser. I prefer the gel cleanser on a daily basis, and when I apply makeup I like to do double cleansing. At first, I use the makeup remover to get rid of all the makeup and then a gentle cleanser. Sometimes, I use a simple moisturized beauty bar to keep the cleansing routine simple. And when I feel my skin need some extra cleaning, I use the detoxifying cleanser like Indian mud cleanser or active charcoal cleanser.

During warm weather months, a skin toner can come in handy to combat breakouts caused from sweat, sunblock, and dirt clogging our pores or a combo of all three. Our skin also tends to be more oily during sticky summer days, so toner is a step in the cleansing process that removes all the stuff left behind on your skin after washing, such as makeup, excess oils, impurities, dead skin cells, or even residue left from your cleanser. By wiping away all these pore-cloggers, you reduce acne and prevent future breakouts. Choosing the right toner for your skin is a vital step and the wrong toner will affect the ph balance of our skin. Toner for dry and combination skins are totally different from the toners for oily skin. So, we have to choose our toner according to our skin’s needs.

Exfoliation in the summer is a very needed skincare step. Whether it’s a scrub, clay mask or the chemical exfoliants, it’s very important to exfoliate our face at least twice a week. It will clean the clogged pores, it will remove the dead skins, it will help the blemish-prone skin and also works great to minimize the appearances of wrinkles.

Lactic Acid

Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), also considered as a chemical exfoliant. AHAs are acids derived from foods, and, as it turns out a type of acid that’s safe to apply to our skin. Regular and proper use of Lactic Acid serums can help your skin to reduce the appearance of aging, and they can be an especially good remedy against fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of premature aging from sun damage.

Peel-off Masks-

Though I am not a big fan of peel-off masks, in these hot and humid days I really can’t overlook all the benefits of these masks. Firstly, these masks are a type of physical exfoliant, which means they remove the top layer of skin to slough away dead skin cells. This makes skin feel smooth and looks glowy. Regular use of these masks actually helps to reduce the pore size and revealing firmer skin. Plus, by making peel-offs a part of your weekly routine, you may also begin to notice a reduced appearance of fine line and wrinkles.

Use of antioxidants helps our skin against the sun damage. Its anti-inflammatory results help to calm the skin and it also beneficial in skin firming and scars treating. Vitamin C, Retinol, Vitamin-E are some of the most popular and commonly used antioxidants in our skincare products.

Vitamin C-

A favorite among dermatologists, vitamin C is one of the most studied antioxidants available on the market. It has many skin benefits, it helps to boost collagen production of the skin, and make our skin brighter. It also helps to fade dark spots and therefore works as a tone corrector. I use vitamin C serum in my daily skincare, it is the first thing I apply after clean my face.

Eye creme-

Eye cremes should be used all year round, it is a basic skincare step that is needed to follow no matter what is the weather. It nurtures the most delicate part of our face, it prevents the fine lines around our eyes and also fades the visible appearance of dark circles.

Yes, we need a moisturizer even in the summer. A light and hydrating moisturizer is a must requirement in the summer skincare steps.

Nowadays, facial mists or hydrating sprays are very popular to keep the skin moist. Carry them in purses, and a spray a little when your skin feels a little dull, you will get the instant glowy skin.

I can’t give enough emphasis on sunscreens. We should use sunscreens even we are staying inside for most of the day.  It not only helps our skin from tanning but also helps the skin from the UV rays. SPF -30 is the minimum requirements for every day uses in the summer. And for the water activities, High SPF and water-resistant sunscreens are safe to use.

Other than this skincare regimen, we have to drink plenty of water in summer days. Exercising, cutting off the caffeine, adding melons and greens in our diet will also help our skin to be healthy from inside. In summary, proper cleansing, toning, weekly exfoliating, regular moisturizing and daily uses of sunscreen should be the key steps of skincare, and with that, we also need a little self-love.

Be Summer ready

My favorite Beaches on The Atlantic

Ocean and sea beaches have always been a weakness for me. Spending the day with family on a beautiful beach feels bliss to me. Here are some of my favorite beaches on the Atlantic Ocean.

Charleston Folly Beach-

We would never get bored in Charleston. Each time we visit there we find something new to do, something new to explore and also the same old landmarks would feel more entertaining than ever. Among the other parts of Charleston, Folly Beach in South Carolina is very popular for surfing, fishing, kayaking, and other water activities. Family- friendly and eye-pleasing beautiful shoreline will definitely worth for the ultimate beach vacation. More to that, the historic downtown of Charleston and the comfort southern food, yum, both are definitely worth to try on. Our most favorite is Griffon’s famous fish and chips.

South Beach Miami-

One of the most happening beaches, the food, the people, the fashion, the drinks, the music, the ambiance, glittering nightlife, everything is absolutely great there. Of course, because it’s Miami. We had the most amazing time there. One of the best scenic, relaxing, energetic place I have ever visited. Famous for one of the most trendy beach destinations, South Beach Florida is definitely a fun place to visit.

North Myrtle Beach-

I would say Myrtle Beach is a great family vacation spot. Located in South Carolina, it’s one of our favorite. My kids love to go there, we love to go there. If you want to enjoy a complete vacation package where you can spend time in beaches, then go to fishing, kayaking, stroll on the nature trails and then shop at the nearby Tanger outlet mall, then you will get everything of these and much more in there, in Myrtle Beach.

Hilton Head Island-

Famous for the pristine beaches, the golf courses, and other outdoor water activities, Hilton Head Island is a very beautiful and a peaceful place to visit. Comfortable accommodation and a very restful place. We went there in the late November, so luckily we could see the amazing festive decor and also, there was a festive event, where fully decorated and different theme based Christmas Trees were displaying to sell, which was a bonus experience for us.

Loved every moment while we were there, and definitely would like to go again to find that tranquility.

Nags Head, NC Outer banks-

Nags Head is one of the best places to experience the North Carolina Outer Banks vacation. One of the beautiful sunsets I ever have seen was at the Jockey’s Ridge State Park, the largest sand dune on East Coast. The panoramic view of the sound, ocean and surrounding towns are honestly breathtaking. We have enjoyed one of our best summer days while we were there.

Daytona Beach-

Definitely, a fun place to visit with family. Loved the driving on the beach, lots of beach activities are available on Daytona. We always make a stop there, while we are visiting Florida. And if you are a fan of racing then you have to go to Daytona International Speedway complex to experience the ultimate NASCAR racing.

Enjoy the summer days.

New Kylie Jenner Lip-kits

Tried for the first time and immediately fall in love with these KYLIE JENNER lip-kits. Each Lip Kit comes with a full-size Liquid Lipstick and a matching full-size Lip Liner. I got mine from Ulta.

I like pigmented lip colors, and these are super pigmented lip colors. The colors are true, long wearing and give the lips the ultimate all-day coverage. I don’t mind the matt looks, also they are not super dry for my lips. Once I moisturized my lips properly, I apply the lip liner first and then the lipstick. Both the formula give a creamy effect and really glide on the lips very smoothly, blends well too.

I got two shades- Dazzle from their new Velvet Liquid Lip collection and Head Over Heels from Matte Liquid Lip collection. Dazzle is a warm, terracotta orange shade and Head Over Heels is a beautiful plum shade.

Definitely, there are more gorgeous colors and formula to chose from KYLE COSMETICS. I am already making my future shopping list. What about you? Share your thoughts about KYLE Cosmetics.
